This policy explains what Bellum Solutions O/A Desk Anchor ("DeskAnchor", "we", "us") does with personal information. We follow Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
Our Privacy Officer is Martin Bechard, at martin@deskanchor.ca.
This matters, because DeskAnchor holds two kinds of information about people.
Information about you, our customer. Your name, business email, phone, business address and billing history. We decide what happens to it and this policy governs it.
Information you put into DeskAnchor about other people — your clients, your employees, the people you invoice. That is yours. You decide what is collected and why; we only hold and process it so the software works for you. If one of your clients or employees wants to see or correct their information, they should ask you, not us. We will help you answer them.
When you sign up: your name, email, phone, company name and business address. The address is required because it sets the sales tax on our invoices to you.
Payment information: handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number. We keep the last four digits, the card brand and the expiry date so you can tell which card is on file.
As you use the service: sign-in times, IP addresses and browser information, kept to keep accounts secure and to work out what went wrong when something breaks. Failed sign-in attempts are recorded so we can lock out password guessing.
When you contact us: whatever you send us, so we can help and so we have a record of it.
Agreement records: when you accept these terms or this policy we record which version, when, and the IP address it came from.
We do not go looking through your business records. But it is honest to say what the software stores, because we hold it:
We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for advertising. We do not share it for anyone else's marketing.
You give consent by creating an account and using the service. For anything beyond running the service and meeting our legal obligations, we ask separately.
You can withdraw consent at any time by closing your account. Some things we must keep afterwards — see section 8.
Only the companies that make the service work:
We do not send personal information anywhere else unless you ask us to, or the law requires it. If we are ever legally compelled to hand something over, we will tell you unless we are prohibited from doing so.
If our business is ever sold or merged, information may transfer with it. You would be told beforehand.
DeskAnchor's servers and backups are located in Ottawa, Ontario. Stripe processes payments in Canada and the United States, and information handled outside Canada may be accessible to authorities there under their own laws.
While your account is open, for as long as you keep it.
When an account closes, the data is locked but kept, so it can be restored if you come back or ask for it. It is not deleted automatically — ask us and we will erase it.
Two things we keep even after an erasure, because we have to:
Under PIPEDA you can:
Most of it you can also do yourself, in Settings, without asking anyone.
No system is perfectly secure. If a breach ever affected you, we would tell you and the Privacy Commissioner as the law requires.
DeskAnchor sets a cookie to keep you signed in, and another if you choose "keep me signed in". That is all. No advertising cookies, no third-party trackers, no analytics that follow you around.
DeskAnchor is business software and is not for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information about children.
If we change this policy we will post the new version here and, where the change matters to you, tell you by email. Every version is kept and we record which one you agreed to.
